SOH CAH TOA :)
Everyone has heard this in PreCalc/Trig class. But you might be confused as to what it REALLY means. Let us explain.
So in a triangle, there are 3 sides; opposite, adjacent, and hypotenuse. Sin, Cos, Tan, CSC, Sec, and Cot can all be found using this. "Opposite" is on the other side of theta or x.
How to Apply it to a Problem:
To find the answers, not only must you apply the SOH CAH TOA, but also the special right triangles. By getting the special right triangle and their sides' proportions, you can get angle theta.
EX:
Sin (1/2)
Because this is telling us that its opposite side is 1 and hypotenuse 2, we can infer that this is the case of a special right triangle (The right one on the picture in this case). Theta or X would be 30 degrees, or in radian pi/6.
